Fonderia Morini: Main sponsor of Società Ciclistica Cotignolese

In order to show its support to the community of Cotignola (Italy), Fonderia Morini is committed to several activities locally. An example thereof is the Società Ciclistica Cotignolese, an amateur cycling association, of which the company is the main sponsor.

The history of the Società Ciclistica Cotignolese

The Società Ciclistica Cotignolese is among the newest sports associations in the area of Cotignola: it was founded in 1959, as the city was still recovering from the damages from World War II.

It is precisely because of this historical context that its founders (including its first President, Cavalier Amleto Pagani) decided to give life to a sports association. From the very beginning, indeed, this association has aimed at helping children grow through sports, since these activities would have taught them the value of sharing as well as what it means to work in a team.

Team spirit is among the core values of Società Ciclistica Cotignolese and it makes cycling more than an individual sport (in spite of what many may think) , making sports a recreational moment in which everyone is involved.

In its fifty years of history, the Società Ciclistica Cotignolese has trained children in the 7-18-year-old band and organized several races, including the Junior Race”Michele Gordini”, inaugurated in 1970 and dedicated to the cyclist of the same name.

The company also collaborates with the schools and the municipality of the town of Cotignola for promotional youth initiatives aimed teaching traffic regulations and getting acquainted with physical activity.

The association’s successes

The Società Ciclistica Cotignolese can boast many achievements, including the win of fourteen Italian championships (both on the road and on track), dozens of regional titles and several “maglia azzurra” (an Italian prize for cycling) with prestigious victories on a global scale (such as Patuelli Gianni for track cycling and Taroni Davide for road cycling). Three athletes from the association have also become professional cyclists: Cristian Gasperoni, Bosi Raffaele and Alan Marangoni.

An interview with the President of the association

In an interview for the Fonderia Morini YouTube channel, the President of Società Ciclistica Cotignola, Gian Domenico Marangoni, tells the history of the association and describes its activities.
